Update 16: Putting the pieces together.....

(Taken from the Kickstarter campaign update.)

I know the updates are becoming less frequent and there is no need to be worried. Progress is still being made. A bit slower than originally planned but things are still coming together.

Music is almost done. Just 2 tracks left and they are nearing completion. Once they are done, I will get the soundtrack CDs made for those who added it onto their pledge.

Levels are 92% complete. Some minor touch-ups and reworks are expected.

Cut scenes are 60% complete but are almost done. It will reach 100% in the next week or two.

Story-line / dialogue is 90% complete.

All non-in-game artwork is about 70% complete (for box art, manual and strategy guide).

All character sprites are complete with the exception of 1 NPC (for a backer reward) and bosses. The bosses are being worked on as I type this.

The game mechanics are almost all in place and complete. Pending boss programming among, a couple of other lingering items.

Again, we are at the stage of putting the pieces together and it is taking a bit longer than I had originally expected. Even more so, because since the end of the campaign, I lost my primary job and got a new one, with the new one having me travel quite a bit taking some time away from the game.

The game in its current state is being tested for bugs while all other work continues. Making sure that we weed out as many bugs or glitches we can find.

Below is an example of some of the new scene reworking. DarianBelmont put together an amazing illustration for the Game Over scene which has replaced a boring black one (it looks great on the Game Boy Color screen in its original resolution).

I am having a difficult time sharing new in-game content because I want to avoid spoilers. The more of the game I share, the less surprising certain things will be. BUT I wanted to share a DEMO of ONLY Level 1 that was built a few months ago for testers. You can find the that demo on itch.io: https://dancingmadstudios.itch.io/the-cult-of-blood (uploaded today).

Note - this demo is not the latest state of the game. It is only of Level 1 and was built a few months ago. Collision detection has been better tuned since this demo and there is one known bug with the demo which is quite random and alters the actor animation speed to make him look like he is running. I am in the process of fixing this bug.

I forgot to add!!! There is a "secret code" to get 10 lives! No it isn't the Konami code. There is a Copyright on that. It is the Dancing Mad Code. At the title screen, press: UP, DOWN, UP, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT, LEFT, RIGHT, B, A and you will hear a growl to know that it has been inputted successfully.

In this demo, I didn't properly update the credits scene. It should also read that:
