Update 17: More update and new [final] demo

As I continue to wrap up with the rest of the game, I added new bug fixes and tunings and changes which affect and improve upon the original demo. So, this will likely be my final demo before the official release.

I cannot remember all of the changes from the last demo but the new cut includes:

  1. Splash screen has animated effect
  2. Intro can be skipped by holding Start once the dialogue begins
  3. Collision detection greatly improved with projectile rewrite of engine
  4. Tuned the jump gravity to make jumps a bit easier
  5. Adjusted color palette in a few areas for better visibility
  6. Added better stage tracking for pause screen
  7. Added scoring system visible in pause screen
  8. Changed stage "Act" intro scene (new jingle will be present in final release)
  9. I updated the credits scene and it is accurate to current involved peoples

Remember: Any and all changes made to the game engine and plugins are pushed to GitHub: https://github.com/pkoutoupis/gb-studio-misc-extras

Remember: There is a "secret code" to get 10 lives! No it isn't the Konami code. There is a Copyright on that. It is the Dancing Mad Code. At the title screen, press: UP, DOWN, UP, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT, LEFT, RIGHT, B, A and you will hear a growl to know that it has been inputted successfully.

Unrelated to the game image, the official website has also been updated: https://dancingmadstudios.com/

Hi there!

I just finished playing the demo, and I do have some concerns with the player jump. There is a gap on stage 1-12 that is just too wide to consistently jump across. I do understand that the longer you hold the jump button the higher the jump the player gets, but it does not feel consistent with jumps that are that wide in previous screens. If the distance traveled was just slightly smaller, then the jump would not feel as difficult to make.

Thank you for playing! And for the feedback. I have always adjusted the jump for the final release. 🙂
